three decades of craft.

En 1983, en Villa de Cura, Aragua, el fundador montó un taller para fabricar fustes en polietileno de alta densidad. Diseñó el proceso entero — los moldes, las temperaturas, los tiempos — desde cero.

In 1983, in Villa de Cura, Aragua, the founder set up a workshop to make saddle trees from high-density polyethylene. He designed the entire process — molds, temperatures, timing — from scratch.

El polietileno no era un material obvio para una montura. La industria lo usaba para tuberías de agua, no para sentar a un jinete encima de un caballo. Pero tenía las propiedades correctas: no absorbía agua, resistía el sol del llano, cedía al golpe sin fracturarse. Faltaba averiguar cómo moldearlo en la geometría exacta de un fuste, y que un talabartero pudiera forrarlo como si fuera madera.

Polyethylene wasn't an obvious choice for a saddle. Industry used it for water pipes, not for seating a rider on a horse. But it had the right properties: it didn't absorb water, it resisted the tropical sun, it flexed under impact instead of fracturing. The remaining question was how to mold it into the exact geometry of a saddle tree, and how to let a saddler wrap it as if it were wood.

Le tomó años. Cada modelo significó un molde nuevo, hecho a mano, ajustado al milímetro a una raza, un estilo de monta, una región. La planta creció modelo a modelo: McCleallan para la guardia, Pico Colombiano para el coleo, Charro para la fiesta brava, Western y Australiana para el paseo. Todo nacido en el mismo galpón.

It took years. Each model meant a new mold, hand-built, adjusted to the millimeter for a breed, a riding style, a region. The plant grew model by model: McCleallan for ranch work, Colombian Pico for coleo, Charro for the bullfight, Western and Australian for trail. All born in the same shed.

Cuando el fundador falleció, sus dos hijos heredaron el taller — pero más que el taller, heredaron el oficio. Crecieron en el galpón. Aprendieron qué temperatura tiene que tener el polietileno, cuánto debe pesar cada modelo, dónde van los refuerzos. Hoy siguen fabricando con los mismos moldes, las mismas fórmulas, la misma mano.

When the founder passed away, his two sons inherited the workshop — but more than the workshop, they inherited the craft. They grew up in the shed. They learned what temperature the polyethylene needs, how much each model should weigh, where the reinforcements go. Today they continue with the same molds, the same formulas, the same hand.
